_Oxford Rooftop Community

Oxford's town center offers limited opportunities for new housing development today. Our proposal is to re-use an extensive, existing rooftop above a local supermarket store and transform it into a vibrant site for a community accommodating 24-homes and ample landscaped amenity areas. We propose to fabricate all units off-site and develop the scheme without the necessity to shut-down the store underneath. These pre-fabricated modular homes will be craned-in and installed on an offset structural grid, transferring structural loads onto the existing 1970's structure as well as forming a services and acoustic buffer with the existing building. A range of one and two-bedroom unit types and sizes are proposed, some of which are designed with duplex configuration to adapt to the rooftop levels. Main access is directly from the High Street and the central landscaped space will consolidate this community focused development.
